Services
AIC assembles existing capabilities and delivers AI/O in practice. The work is organised into four service areas.
Service structure
The four service areas
The four areas are equal in weight and cover different kinds of need. Most work starts in one and continues in another.
Service area
Advisory & Foresight
- Foresight
- Technology advice
- Roadmaps
- Funding pathways
Service area
Testing
- Sandboxes and test environments
- Innovation environments
- Validation

Matching
- Researchers and research groups
- Technologies and solutions
- Funding and funding pathways
- Companies and partners
Service area
Training
- Company and applied training
- Internal university training
- Technology and research-led training

Environments
Where the work happens
Services are delivered in environments, not in the abstract. Two of them matter first: AI Garage is the way in to the services, and AIC Lab is the physical working environment.
The way in
AI Garage
Start with a question. AI Garage helps you find the right expertise, environment and next step.
- A question is enough. No prepared brief and no defined project are needed to start.
- The need is worked through together, so that it becomes something that can be acted on.
- Small trials can be set up before anything larger is committed to.

The place
AIC Lab
A working environment where research, demonstrations and equipment are in one space and can be seen and used.
- Immersion Zone, IoT Wall, Prototyping, Meeting Space & Lounge, Digital Signage Displays, Health Kiosk.
- Ground floor of the ITEE building, Linnanmaa campus.
- Visits by appointment, agreed case by case.

Getting started
Starting a conversation
A defined project is not needed to start. A question is enough, and the first step is usually working out which of the four areas the need belongs to.
Describe what you are trying to build or find out. Matching connects the need with the right expertise, research group, environment or funding pathway. Testing and Training contribute according to the need.
If the need spans several areas, that is the normal case rather than a complication. Advisory & Foresight is where a broad question is usually framed first.
Work proceeds through defined decision points. At each one it either continues with a wider scope or stops, and a stop is a result as well.
The full reasoning behind this is on the Vision page.
